Why Annual Exams Matter

More Than Just a Prescription Check

A comprehensive eye exam isn't just about whether you need glasses. Many serious health conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, autoimmune disorders, and even some cancers, show their first signs in the eyes. Even people with 20/20 vision need exams, often before symptoms appear elsewhere.

We take time to actually examine your eyes thoroughly, explain what we see, and answer your questions. No rush, no upsell, no "30-minutes-and-you're-out-the-door" feeling. New patients can see what to bring to your exam.

What to Expect

A Complete Exam, Every Visit

Visual Acuity & Refraction

We measure exactly how clearly you see and determine your precise prescription for glasses or contacts.

Eye Health Examination

A thorough look at the front and back of the eye to screen for cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other conditions.

Eye Pressure Check

A quick, painless screening to monitor for glaucoma. Especially important after age 40 or with family history.

Digital Eye Strain Assessment

If you spend hours on screens, we evaluate how your eyes are coping and recommend strategies (and lenses) that help.

Personalized Recommendations

Glasses, contacts, computer lenses, prescription sunglasses, whatever makes the most sense for your real life.

Follow-Up & Continuity

We keep records year over year so we can track changes early, not after they become problems.

Care Throughout Life

Eye Care Needs Change at Every Age

20s & 30s: Annual exams establish a baseline. Digital eye strain from screens is increasingly common and very treatable. If you notice burning, gritty, or watery eyes, ask about dry eye treatment.

40s: Many people start needing reading glasses or progressives. We make this transition smooth (here's the truth about reading glasses) and explain all your frame and lens options.

50s & 60s: Regular screening becomes increasingly important. Cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration all become more common, and all are highly treatable when caught early. Sudden floaters or flashes need a same-day look.

70+: Annual or more frequent exams help maintain quality of life, driving ability, and independence as visual demands change.

If you experience double vision, eye fatigue, lingering symptoms after a concussion, or persistent headaches from screen use, ask about our specialty binocular vision evaluation, a deeper look at how the two eyes are working together.

What Patients Say

Hear From People We've Cared For

“Dr. Murray was excellent. She was extremely thorough, took the time to explain every detail, and overall made me feel at ease with the issues I was having. I would HIGHLY recommend her!”

Keri KemperAdult patient · 2 weeks ago

“Dr. Murray was a wealth of knowledge, kind and compassionate, and incredibly informative.”

Stephanie LewisPatient · 1 month ago

“I have been looking for a doctor that specializes in adult special needs and nobody would return my call. I left a message and Dr. Murray's office called me immediately the next morning. It was the best decision I made. She took her time and was so patient. We previously took a family member to another doctor who couldn't get an accurate eye exam. Dr. Murray was specific on what needed to be done and said there's no reason why it couldn't be done, you might just have to do things in a different manner. She was the best eye doctor for our family member with special needs.”
