Dr. Christina Murray, OD, FOVDR: Pediatric Optometrist in Boca Raton.
Founder of Pediatric & Family Vision, opening November 16, 2026. For more than ten years, Dr. Murray has cared for the eyes of South Florida children, teens, and adults.
A Pediatric and Family Optometrist
Dr. Christina Murray is a Doctor of Optometry and a Fellow of Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation (FOVDR). She has spent more than a decade caring for South Florida families, and her work has long centered on how children's eyes and vision develop.
Her clinical focus includes pediatric eye exams, amblyopia (lazy eye), eye turns, convergence insufficiency, vision-related reading struggles, and concussion-related vision problems. She also sees adults for family eye exams and fits contact lenses.
She founded Pediatric & Family Vision so that more families could get the same thorough, unhurried care through their insurance. She lives in Boca Raton with her family and is an active runner, biker, and swimmer.

What the Fellowship Is
FOVDR stands for Fellow of Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation. The fellowship is awarded by the Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation Association, which was known until recently as the College of Optometrists in Vision Development (COVD). Older listings show the same fellowship as FCOVD. The college describes itself as an international, nonprofit optometric membership organization that provides education, evaluation, and board certification programs in behavioral and developmental vision care.[2]
Fellowship is that board certification. According to COVD, candidates complete a guided study program and then pass a written examination and an oral interview given by the college's International Examination and Certification Board. Those who meet every requirement are awarded Fellowship. The letters after a fellow's name were FCOVD under the college's old name and are FOVDR today.[2]
Dr. Murray is the only board-certified fellow in developmental vision in south Palm Beach County. Searched from Boca Raton in October 2026, the OVDRA doctor directory lists no other fellow within 20 miles; the nearest are in Fort Lauderdale and Weston, in Broward County.[3]
For parents, the practical meaning is simple: on top of her Doctor of Optometry degree, Dr. Murray has completed a separate board certification process in developmental vision care, the area of eye care that looks at how vision skills grow and work together.
Where Dr. Murray Spends Her Time
Pediatric Eye Exams
Full exams for babies, toddlers, school-age kids, and teens, adapted to each age.
Binocular Vision
How the two eyes team, track, and focus together, which a standard eye chart does not test.
Amblyopia (Lazy Eye)
Finding a weaker eye early, while the visual system is still developing.
Strabismus (Eye Turns)
Eyes that cross, drift, or turn, constantly or only when a child is tired.
Convergence Insufficiency
Eyes that struggle to work together up close, which can make reading uncomfortable.
Myopia Management
Slowing how quickly a child's nearsightedness gets worse, not just updating glasses.
Contact Lens Fittings
Fittings for kids, teens, and adults, including first-time wearers.
Vision Development
How vision skills grow from infancy through the school years.
Two Doctors, One Practice
Dr. Murray practices alongside Dr. Jeannine Gutierrez, OD, who provides primary eye care for patients of every age. With two doctors, a child's exam and a parent's annual visit can be scheduled for the same afternoon.
If your child's pediatrician sent you here, you may also find our page for pediatricians useful, and parents whose child did not pass a screening can start with what to do after a failed vision screening.
